FAQ's

Wondering what kind of gear you need, how to register, or other general event details? Not sure how much you need to raise, curious about fundraising swag, or need fundraising tips?

Great news - we've got the answers! Check out some of our most frequently asked questions below.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes — $10 per teammate. You'll need to pay with a credit card when you register.

Is there a limit to the number of teammates I can have?

Nope! You can have as many teammates as you’d like on your team. There is a maximum of 4 participants per bike with a fundraising commitment of $1,000 per bike. For example, if you have 8 teammates, you’d require 2 bikes. Your fundraising commitment would be $1,000 per bike, so $2,000 total for 8 teammates.

How many bikes can I register?

You can register as many bikes as you’d like (until we are sold out!). Just remember, each bike comes with a fundraising minimum of $1,000, or $2,500 for our Inner Circle VIP bikes. Each bike you add will increase your fundraising commitment incrementally.

I don’t have others to join me, can I join individually?

Absolutely! Just choose the ‘individual’ registration option, and you're good to go

What should I wear to the event?

You'll want to come in workout clothes — be prepared to sweat! Each participant will receive a spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures T-shirt or tank top that you can wear on event day. Don't forget your socks!

Is there a cycling instructor?

Yes, there will be a professional instructor. We partner with cycle studios across the country to ensure that our events are high-energy and a great workout! Our instructors will also help you get set up on the bike and provide modifications so that people of all fitness levels can participate!

How long is the event?

In general, the ride portion of the event lasts for about two hours, but this varies from city to city. However, most participants only ride for approximately 30 minutes of that time (four teammates per bike + two hours = 30 minutes each). Some cities have multiple sessions, and of course, there's time built in for fun outside of the ride.

Do I have to ride for 2 hours by myself?

Not at all (but we'll give you extra high-fives if you want to ride that long)! Our event is set up so that you can split the ride time with up to 3 other teammates per bike. For most events, this means each ride is broken into 30-minute segments, though some events may vary. Even if you do ride the entire two hours, there will be short breaks as other teams switch out riders.

Do I need indoor cycling shoes?

Nope, but if you have them, you can bring them! If you don't have a pair — don't sweat it. Each event will either have shoes on-site for you to borrow, or you can use the cages on the pedals and just wear your tennis shoes.

I am not a seasoned indoor cyclist, or outdoor cyclist, at that. Can I still participate?

Yes — Absolutely! We welcome all levels of athleticism to our spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures events. You don’t need to have any experience in indoor cycling or be a seasoned outdoor cyclist, to join us and make an impact! We have a professional on-site instructor who will help with bike set-up, assist you with your initial bike fitting, and lead this fun, high-energy party on a bike throughout the event.

Can I utilize Facebook’s fundraising tool to raise funds?

Yes! You can connect your personal fundraising page to a Facebook Fundraiser through your fundraising dashboard. Be sure to enable your fundraiser from your spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures dashboard so the funds you raise on Facebook will sync back to your fundraising total.

How can my company get involved?

Your company can join the party too! From sponsorship opportunities to matching gifts to hosting their own event or even joining or making a donation to your team, there are multiple ways your company can support spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures. For more information, please contact us at spin4@crohnscolitisfoundation.org.

Do you accept matching gifts?

Yes! Many companies offer matching gift programs to maximize their financial contributions to non-profit organizations. Visit our matching gifts page for information about requesting a matching gift for your donation.

Is there a fundraising requirement?

Yes — all participants for our in-person events must commit to a fundraising minimum upfront in order to participate. This minimum depends on which registration option you choose.

  • $250 minimum: Individual fundraising commitment
  • $1,000 minimum: Team fundraising commitment for 1 regular bike (up to 4 people per bike)
  • $2,500 minimum: Inner Circle VIP fundraising commitment for 1 VIP bike (up to 4 people per bike). PLUS, extra VIP perks!
Why do I commit to a fundraising minimum upfront?

An upfront commitment ensures that at least 80 cents of every dollar raised through spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures will benefit the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. When participants reach the fundraising commitments, they are supporting our mission. Additionally, in order to provide an in-person option to participants, there are costs associated with the production of the event.

What happens if the fundraising minimum is not met?

If you haven’t met your fundraising commitment by the deadline, a personal donation is required to cover the difference between the amount raised and the minimum. This helps us ensure that at least 80% of the funds raised support the Foundation’s mission.

What if I have a teammate back out last minute? Will I be responsible for their fundraising?

Participants make an upfront commitment and are responsible for their own fundraising commitment. Drops and deferrals are only allowed for military, pregnancy, or injury with a doctor’s note.

What is the fundraising deadline?

The fundraising deadline is one week after the event date. The event manager will communicate the fundraising deadline with participants prior to the event.

If I’m a team captain, will I be charged the balance if my team doesn’t meet our fundraising minimum?

Each teammate is responsible for their own fundraising commitment. The team captain will only be charged the portion of the goal that they are responsible for. However, the team captain can request to cover what is remaining fundraising minimum.

What kind of swag do I get?

We don't mean to brag, but you'll get some pretty awesome stuff. Each fundraising participant will receive their choice of a spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures T-shirt or tank top, towel, and bag.
